IAm - Intelligent Agent Manifested
Working Prototype • Project
One agent — multiple manifestations. IAm explores whether a persistent intelligent agent can preserve its identity and context while changing how and where it is manifested.
WHY IT EXISTS
Most AI interaction happens through a text box, and the 'agent' effectively lives inside that window. IAm asks what changes when the same conceptual agent can move between environments — and whether its identity belongs to a device, an interface, or to the agent itself.
THE THREE MANIFESTATIONS
Physical: embodied interaction through robotics, where intelligence must perceive and act in the real world. Virtual: manifestation inside persistent software environments, including experimentation around LP-MUD worlds. Conversational: interaction through conversational systems, including experimentation around Alexa.
PIDOG LAB
PiDog Lab is the physical experimentation environment inside IAm — not a separate project. The PiDog robot makes it possible to explore the difference between intelligence that only produces information and intelligence that must deal with the constraints of a body.
CURRENT STATE
Physical experiments run on the PiDog platform; virtual and conversational manifestations are earlier-stage experiments.
RESEARCH DIRECTION
Separate the agent's persistent identity and context from whichever interface it is currently manifested through — and define which context should travel between manifestations.
